Gifted & Talented - Initial Meeting (Scenario A)

The GT Review Meeting (Administrator Form) documents a student's review. This article walks through an Initial Meeting or Annual Review that ends in Scenario A: Continue in GT Program - the student starts or remains in the program with new goals and stretch opportunities for the year ahead.

Meeting Documentation

Open the student's Gifted And Talented (GT) Program screen. In the Annual Meetings section, click New Meeting. The meeting opens as the Annual Gifted & Talented (GT) Review Meeting - Administrator Form.

  1. Enter the meeting Date, Time, and Location.
  2. Confirm the Participants. The GT Coordinator is added automatically; use Add Participant for others.

I. Welcome & The Big Picture

  1. Set the Meeting Purpose to Initial Meeting.
  2. Record the Overall Goldilocks Effect Check (Too Easy / Just Right / Too Hard) as an initial impression.
  3. Add any opening Notes.

II. Student Self-Reflection

Record the student's wins and highlights, challenges and frustrations, and their interests or ideas for next year.

III. Data & Performance Review

  1. Check the quantitative data reviewed (Standardized Test Scores, District Benchmarks, Classroom Grades, or Other) and summarize it.
  2. Record Teacher Observations and set the Alignment Check (Yes / Partially / No) for how current performance matches GT service expectations.

IV. Determining the Path Forward - Scenario A

Under Select Path, choose Scenario A: Continue in GT Program. The Scenario A section appears.

Record the student's new goals for next year:
  1. Click Add Goal.
  2. Choose the Domain (for example, Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Extracurricular, or Other).
  3. Enter the Goal or stretch opportunity, then click Save.
  4. Repeat for each goal, and add any overall Notes.

V. Socio-Emotional Check-In

Check any areas discussed (Perfectionism, Anxiety/Stress, Peer Relationships, Motivation, Balance of Commitments), set Concerns Identified (None / Monitor / Follow-up Needed), and note any recommended supports.

VI. Action Items & Closing

  1. Use Add Item to record any subject-specific action items.
  2. Set the Follow-up Date if another review is needed. If no date is set, a default of 365 days will be used in the Upcoming Meetings report.
  3. Write a Closing Affirmation noting the student's strengths, growth, or contributions.

Print the meeting document

Return to the GT home screen. In the Annual Meetings table, click Meeting Document in the Printable Documents column to open the printable record.

Note: Goals recorded under Scenario A drive the Active Goals report. Setting a Follow-up Date helps the student surface on the Upcoming Meetings report when their next review is due.
