This article walks through a follow-up meeting - an Annual GT placement review or an Other meeting - that ends in Scenario B: Success Plan Initiated. A Success Plan is a supportive growth plan for a student whose engagement or performance needs attention, with the goal of keeping them successful in the program.
Meeting Documentation
Open the student's Gifted And Talented (GT) Program screen. In the Annual Meetings section, click New Meeting. The meeting opens as the Annual Gifted & Talented (GT) Review Meeting - Administrator Form.
- Enter the meeting Date, Time, and Location.
- Confirm the Participants. The GT Coordinator is added automatically; use Add Participant for others.
I. Welcome & The Big Picture
- Set the Meeting Purpose to Annual GT placement review (follow-up to a prior plan).
- Record the Overall Goldilocks Effect Check (Too Easy / Just Right / Too Hard) as an initial impression.
- Add any opening Notes.
II. Student Self-Reflection
Record the student's wins and highlights, challenges and frustrations, and their interests or ideas for next year.
- Check the quantitative data reviewed (Standardized Test Scores, District Benchmarks, Classroom Grades, or Other) and summarize it.
- Record Teacher Observations and set the Alignment Check (Yes / Partially / No) for how current performance matches GT service expectations.
IV. Determining the Path Forward - Scenario B
- Under Select Path, choose Scenario B: Success Plan Initiated. The Scenario B section and the Success Plan form appear.
- Select the Reason for Success Plan (Academic performance dip, Engagement concerns, Workload balance, or Other).
- Describe the Key Supports / Adjustments.
- Set the Review Date for when the committee will revisit the plan.
Complete the Success Plan
The Gifted & Talented Success Plan form opens below the path selection. Complete it with the committee:
- Set the Success Plan Date and the Review Period (4 Weeks or 9 Weeks).
- Check the Areas of Concern (Engagement, Performance, Productivity).
- Fill in the SMART Goals, including the minimum grade the student will maintain and the date for the first project milestone.
- Record the student's Voice & Choice commitment to build buy-in.
V. Socio-Emotional Check-In
Check any areas discussed (Perfectionism, Anxiety/Stress, Peer Relationships, Motivation, Balance of Commitments), set Concerns Identified (None / Monitor / Follow-up Needed), and note any recommended supports.
VI. Action Items & Closing
- Use Add Item to record any subject-specific action items.
- Set the Follow-up Date if another review is needed.
- Write a Closing Affirmation noting the student's strengths, growth, or contributions.
Print the meeting documents
Return to the GT home screen. In the Annual Meetings table, the Printable Documents column shows both Meeting Document and - because this is a Scenario B meeting - a Success Plan link.
Note: Scenario B meetings with a Review Date in the coming weeks appear on the Upcoming Meetings report so the follow-up is not missed. The Success Plan printout is available only for Scenario B meetings.
