English Learner ILP - Working with Plans

The English Learner Program Individual Language Plan (ILP) page is a custom student screen in the PowerSchool admin portal. You reach it by searching for a student, navigating to Academic Records ->  EL Individual Language Plan.

Image showing the student navigation menu.

The page has two modes: a plan list (when no plan is open) and a plan editor (when a plan is open).

ILP page in plan list mode, with the EL Status bar at the top and a table of the student's existing plans.

Three drop-downs at the top apply to the student overall, not to any one plan and are linked to the same state reporting fields that are found on the student's Compliance pages.. Changes save automatically and a brief "saved" message confirms each one:

  • EL Status — the student's Limited English Proficiency status (X, PE, L1, LP, LT, M1–M4). "PE" is only selectable for pre-K students.
  • EL Language — the student's English Learner language. Choosing "Other" reveals a free-text box for the language name.
  • RAEL Student — Yes/No, flags a Recently Arrived English Learner (this used to be referred to as a recently arrived immigrant.

Plan list mode

When no plan is open, the page lists any plans that have already been created and allows the user to create a new plan, or work with an existing one.

  • New Plan — creates a fresh, blank draft plan dated today.
  • The table shows each plan's Status (Draft, Final, or Archive), Plan DateTeam Members, a Plan Document link (opens the printable version in a new tab), and a Copy to New Plan button that duplicates the plan as a new draft.

Plan Editor Mode

When a plan is open, an action row appears at the top:

  • Finalize and Lock Plan / Return Plan to Draft Status — marks the plan Final or returns it to draft status. A finalized plan becomes read-only with the exception of the progress monitoring section.
  • Archive Plan — moves the plan to archives (kept for history, hidden from the default list).
  • Return to Plan List — closes the plan.

Plan editor action row with buttons to finalize and lock, archive, or return to the plan list and the first student information section.
