Importing mClass Scores

mClass Score Import

  • To import mClass scores, navigate to Data & Reporting -> GSD Reports -> Reading Improvement Plan -> mClass Import File. Click the “Import mClass File” link to download a CSV template.

  • Open the CSV file containing the scores from mClass and copy/paste special (preserving the number/value format) the data into the template downloaded from PowerSchool (on row 4). Verify that rows 1 and 4 contain the same values - if row 4 contains different values, that indicates that mClass has changed their data export template and the import template needs an update.

  • Delete rows 1, 2, and 4 from the import template. You should left with a single row above your test results that has a value of “U_GSD_mClass_Student_Scores.schoolYear” in A1.

  • Verify that the value in column CQ matches the student_number value for students in PowerSchool. (The header for that column is labeled as, “U_GSD_mClass_Student_Scores.student_number”.) If not, you will need to export data from PowerSchool and use a VLOOKUP to determine the value that should be in that column.

  • Verify that column CO is in MM/DD/YY or MM/DD/YYYY format.

  • Save the template file(s).

  • Navigate to Data Import Manager at the District Office.  Upload the import template file and import into the “U_GSD_MCLASS_STUDENT_SCORES” table. Make sure that you select “Comma” as the field delimiter.

  • Review the column mapping and ensure that the values match between the two columns. If the “PowerSchool Field” column is completely blank, it indicates that one of the steps above was missed.

  • Click Next, then Import (without changing the default options).

  • Refresh the progress page periodically to check on progress - it will not auto-update itself or give any indication that the process has completed unless you push the blue refresh button on that page. (Do not use the browser’s refresh button to do this.)

  • It is important that you do not import a benchmark’s scores multiple times, and that you do not import values when the headers do not map - PowerSchool does not provide tools to allow for easy deletion of incorrect records in database extensions.
