Refreshing Your Test Server
Request a Data Pump
In order to refresh your test server, you must first request a Data Pump from PowerSchool Hosting. This must be done through the
PowerSchool Community while signed in as a Technical Contact for PowerSchool SIS.
- Click the link to the Case Portal and create a new case.
- Select PowerSchool SIS as the product and enter, "Data Pump Request" as the subject.
- Scroll past the suggestions and click the "Continue to Case Creation" button.
- Account and Subject will auto-populate. Select "PowerSchool SIS" from the Product list.
- Under Issue, select "I have a question related to PowerSchool server (Installation, configuration, error messages, etc.)
- For Priority, select, "P3 - Low impact - General how-to / Display issue / Other issues"
- Business Impact: "Not Business Critical"
- Do you allow support to access your data for troubleshooting during this case?: "Yes"
- In the Description field, enter: "Please provide me with the most recent data pump from our server along with the message keys." Then push the Submit button.
PowerSchool Emails
PowerSchool will send a series of 3 emails.
- Email one contains directions on the process.
- Email two contains a download link. Forward this email to GSD Educational Services.
- Email three contains a link to a secure website that will provide a SAS token, along with a decryption password. Go to this website and securely copy the SAS token and password to a text document. Add the first 3 letters of your powerschool URL on a new line.
Securely Upload Data Pump
- Email GSD Educational Services and request a drop-off link. You'll receive an email with a link, and an encryption key will have been pre-set. These links are time sensitive and expire in approximately 1 week.
- Click the link in the email and then drag/drop the text file onto the page (or use the file selector).
- Push the "Drop-off Files" button.
- Once the files are dropped off, it is best to refrain from accessing your test server until you receive an email indicating that it has been updated. We strive to process data pump imports as quickly as possible, and will not reach out to schedule downtime in advance.
